Ecological Treasure

The area is adjacent to the North River, one of the most productive and biodiverse bodies of water on North Carolina’s coast. It is a primary nursery habitat, second largest on the coast and home to a plethora of fish species. It also supports a growing oyster farming industry.

Habitat Restoration

Lighthouse is working with the North Carolina Coastal Federation to identify target parcels for restoration and conservation to protect this irreplaceable water body and its inhabitants.
