9 Feet of Storm Surge Threatens Eastern Carteret Families — You Can Help Them Prepare

A single Category 3 storm could bring up to 9 feet of storm surge to eastern Carteret County — enough to put entire neighborhoods under water. Families need your help to prepare.

We’re in the final stretch of an 18-month partnership with NC State University landscape architects to design a community-led Floodprint — a community plan built by and for families that will address short-term needs and build for long-term viability:

  • Help families raise homes above the flood line

  • Use nature-based solutions to keep major roads open during storms

  • Host hurricane preparedness workshops and go door-to-door to ensure families are ready

  • Identify pilots for resilient economic opportunities, like regenerative agriculture

  • Train local leaders to carry this work forward

We’ve already completed 75% of the work. With your support, we can finish the final stage and deliver a Floodprint that will unlock millions in public and private investment — funding projects like marsh restoration, living shorelines, sustainable agriculture projects, and elevated homes that will protect hundreds of families for decades.

Every gift brings us closer to a safer, stronger, more resilient future.

We’re 75% of the way there — help finish the Floodprint!
